,,Traian Vuia’’ International Airport

About This Project

The new Departures Terminal at Timișoara “Traian Vuia” International Airport is the largest investment in the airport’s history and a landmark for Romania’s aviation infrastructure. Built with non-reimbursable European funding, the terminal became operational in March 2024, coinciding with Romania’s entry into the Schengen Area.

The building has a gross floor area of over 11,700 sqm and can process more than 1,500 passengers simultaneously, across 8 international flight flows. To ensure full functionality, 172 km of cabling were installed, alongside state-of-the-art technological solutions.

The construction works, carried out by the consortium led by Concelex, lasted 489 days and involved more than 150 specialists working on site daily. The foundation was executed on reinforced concrete piles reaching depths of up to 11 meters, using advanced technologies for strength and durability.

The architectural design, signed by arch. Horia Circa, was inspired by the Vuia 1 aircraft – a symbol of aviation pioneering. The result is a modern terminal, both visually striking and operationally optimized, reflecting Concelex’s commitment to excellence and innovation in construction.
